Food and Drinks that Promote Healthy Skin

Skincare isn't all about external treatment such as moisturising. What you feed your body will also determine greatly the appearance of your skin. Bad diets which consist of fatty, greasy junk foods will inevitably make a persons skin greasy and spotty, whilst deficiencies in vital vitamins and nutrients gained from other foods will make your skin become dry and sallow.

Ensure you consume plenty of:

  • Green and yellow vegetables such as lettuce, carrots, cabbage and peas contain a whole variety of vitamins which are good for the skin.
  • Fresh fruit such as apples, oranges and pears. Avocados are a particularly good fruit which contain a lot of Vitamin A and C essential for the skin.
  • Garlic, onions and asparagus contain sulphur which is also really good for the skin.
  • Camomile Tea is a great choice of drink which is known for its skin hydrating qualities.
  • Fresh fruit juice is an excellent way to ensure you get all of the vitamins and nutrients you're body requires.
  • Drink water regularly. It is highly important to keep your skin hydrated by drinking water.

Avoid consuming:

  • Greasy/Fatty foods will make your skin become greasy and spotty.
  • Alcohol and Caffeine dehydrate a person's body, and they will also dehydrate the skin. To avoid developing dry skin, it is important you moderate or avoid these two things.
  • Fizzy drinks in excess can cause a person to develop bad skin, instead when possible drink water or fresh fruit juice.
