The Secrets to Great Dry Skin

Great skin is achieved in a number of ways. Most people do some of these things, but very few people do them all . You can bet many of the people with great skin are actively doing some of these things right, whether they know it or not.

In this article you will learn about the components you will need in order to achieve and maintain better, healthier skin.

Diet

Diet and vitamins to promote healthy skin growth are essential. You are what you eat, after all. Eating fatty foods which are greasy can cause your skin to become greasy and spotty, whilst leaving essential vitamins and minerals out of your diet can cause your skin to lose its moisture, smoothness and healthiness.

By having a balanced diet which includes plenty of sulphur, vitamins A, B and C, you're body will be able to keep your skin in prime condition. Cut out as much fatty and sugary foods as possible, and eat more fresh fruit, green and yellow vegetables. Not only will you begin to feel better, but your skin will radiate the positive changes in your diet.

Bathing

Bathing is needed to keep your skin clean, however most people don't bath in a way which is best for the skin. Hot water, harsh soaps and washing utilities such as flannels can wash away the skins natural oils. Use lukewarm water, a good moisturising soap such as Olay or Dove, and avoid using utilities which scrub. How you dry yourself is also an important factor. Do not scrub yourself dry after bathing, pat yourself dry to your body retains as much of its natural oils as possible.

Moisturise

Moisturising regularly (particularly after bathing or shaving) is a great way to help keep your skin moist and healthy. Moisturising is particularly important during the winter months when low humidity and harsh weather conditions can really dry your skin causing it to flake.
