3 Steps to the Best Skin in Your Life

Very few people know the essentials of taking care of their skin. Some assume moisturising regularly is enough. Whilst moisturising does help your skin, there is much, much more to it than that – but that doesn't mean its any more hassle. It really is very simple, and in this article we are going to show you how you can begin enjoying the best skin of your life very soon.

Step 1: Bathe, but not too frequently, once a day is enough. Bathing too frequently can be detrimental to your skin, as it washes away the skins protective oils (sebum). Avoid using hot water and harsh soaps, and cleaning instruments which scrub the skin such as loafers. Try to use lukewarm water and good moisturising soaps, Dove or Olay are highly recommended. After bathing, pat yourself dry – don't scrub, you want to keep your skins oils as in tact as possible. Finally, moisturise your hands and face and any other dry-skin areas you feel the need to cover.

Step 2: Eat healthier. Your skin really does reflect your diet. Ensure you eat as balanced a diet as possible which includes plenty of vegetables and fresh fruits which are packed with the skins favourite Vitamins A, B and C.

Step 3: Moisturise regularly, particularly after bathing, before bed, and most important of all before going out. Been outside in the elements can really dry your skin, especially on cold windy days. Your skin will become dry and chapped. Moisturising will help prevent this.

Additional tips

  • Avoid drinking caffeine and alcohol, as this can dehydrate your skin.
  • Use a humidifier whilst you have your central heating on. Central heating will keep your home warm, but it really does nothing good for the skin, it can continue drying the skin as the cold outside would, basically giving your skin no respite to recover and rejuvenate. A humidifier can help curb this side effect of central heating so your skins only enemy is outside.
  • In the summer months, ensure you use a moisturising and very high factor sun cream and avoid sunbathing. Sunburn can really damage and dry the skin as well as cause skin cancer, which really isn't worth having a short lived tan for.
