Dry Skin Treatment

Dry skin doesn't look good, and it doesn't feel good. Sometimes at its worst, it can be darn right irritating and perhaps even sore. Skin care is one of the most overlooked and undervalued of all healthcare practices, but it is also one of the simplest.

There are many methods of dry skin treatment you can start utilising today to give your skin a more healthy appearance, avoid dry flaky skin, and to feel great about your skin.

Here are some of the best dry skin treatment methods:

Moisturise:

Even for men, moisturising is important. It helps give our skin additional protection and keep it healthy, stop it from drying and cracking. Moisturising after bathing or shaving is particularly important.

Vitamin A, B and C:

Take these vitamins to promote healthy skin growth and repair.

Wash correctly and not excessively:

One of the biggest causes of dry skin is excessive washing, particularly with soaps and hot water, which is the worst possible combination for the skin as it washes the skins natural protective oils away. Use lukewarm water to wash, and only wash when necessary, and make sure you use a good moisturising soap such as Dove or Olay which doesn't dry the skin so much. Using flannels and towels can often scrub the oils from the skin, so when drying pat yourself dry, do not scrub yourself dry.

Humidifiers:

During the winter it's a given most people will have their central heating on in their homes, this makes the air humidity even lower than the cold winter outside, and is a prime factor in worsening skin condition within the winter months. By using a humidifier in conjunction with your central heating you will be kept warm and the air is made more humid and better for the skin.
